Stubborn fat and cellulite are not a sign that you are doing something wrong. They are mostly about how your body is built. Fat cells in some areas resist diet and exercise. Cellulite forms when fat pushes up against tight bands of tissue under the skin, which pulls the surface down and makes dimples. As you age, your body also makes less collagen, the protein that keeps skin firm, so skin starts to loosen.
Onda Pro uses Coolwaves® technology. It sends electromagnetic energy at a set frequency of 2.45 GHz into the layer of fat under your skin. The energy is designed to gently warm this fat layer and the collagen fibers that support your skin. A cooling system in the handpiece protects the top layer of your skin, so treatment stays comfortable.

Which Areas Can Onda Pro Treat?
Depending on the handpiece used, your provider can match the treatment to the area:
- Deep handpiece: Larger areas of stubborn fat, such as the belly, flanks, and thighs.
- Shallow handpiece: Cellulite, loose skin, and smaller pockets of fat, such as the buttocks, inner thighs, knees, and arms.
- Pocket handpiece: Firming smaller, curved areas, including under the chin.
Many patients treat more than one area during a visit. In a 2024 study, patients saw changes in belly fat, cellulite, and skin laxity on the abdomen and outer thighs after a course of treatment.
Onda Pro is made for people who are near their goal weight but still have areas that will not budge. You may be a good fit if you:

Onda Pro is not a weight loss treatment. It works best when you keep up healthy habits. Your provider will also review your health history, since some people, such as those who are pregnant or have certain metal implants in the treatment area, may need a different option.
What Happens During an Onda Pro Treatment?
Your visit starts with a consultation. Your provider will look at the areas that bother you, talk about your goals, and build a plan.
On treatment day, your provider marks the area and moves the handpiece over your skin. Most areas take about 10-15 minutes. You will feel warmth, and the built-in cooling helps keep you comfortable.
You will not need anesthesia, and most people go right back to work or daily life. Your provider may suggest a series of sessions spaced about four weeks apart. The exact number depends on your area and goals.
When Will I See Results, and How Long Do They Last?
Your body needs time to clear out the treated fat cells and build new collagen. Most patients start to notice changes a few weeks after treatment, with the best results about three months after the last session.
In a 2023 study, patients who had three sessions on the belly lost an average of about 3.8 cm (1.5 inches) around the waist at three months. A study of 35 patients also found less fat in several areas, including the upper belly, waist, and hips. For the area under the chin, a 2025 study found that two sessions led to firmer, tighter skin at 12 weeks.
Results vary per patient. The fat cells you still have can grow if you gain weight, and your skin keeps aging. Healthy habits and touch-up visits can help you keep your results.
Is Onda Pro Safe, and What Are the Side Effects?
Onda Pro is non-invasive, which means nothing breaks the skin. In published studies, patients reported little discomfort, and no serious side effects were found. Some people notice mild redness, warmth, or tenderness in the treated area. These effects usually fade within hours to a few days.
Before your treatment, your providers will review your medical history to make sure Onda Pro is right for you.
What Should I Do Before and After Onda Pro Treatment?
To lower your risk of bruising, avoid alcohol, fish oil, and ibuprofen before and right after treatment. Your providers will give you aftercare instructions that fit your treatment plan. Since there is no downtime, most patients return to work and daily activities right away. Let your providers know if redness or tenderness lasts more than a few days.

Will I need to lose weight first?

Does ONDA PRO hurt?
Most patients find the treatment comfortable. You will notice a gentle warmth building under the skin and slowly rising toward the surface. A built-in cooling system keeps the outer skin cool throughout. Many patients compare the feeling to a warm stone massage as the handpiece moves across the area.
How long does a session take?
Session length depends on the size and number of areas we treat. Most appointments last between 15 minutes and one hour.
How many sessions will I need?
Every patient is different. Your plan depends on your goals and the areas you want to treat. Many patients need two to three sessions, and some notice a change after the first. During your consultation, we will map out the number of sessions and how far apart to schedule them.
How far apart are treatments scheduled?
Sessions are usually spaced three to five weeks apart, depending on the treatment area. Once you finish your first series, periodic maintenance visits help you hold onto your results.
How should I prepare for my appointment?
Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your session. Skip lotion or moisturizer on the treatment area for a few days beforehand.
What should I do after treatment?
Keep drinking water to stay hydrated. Massage the treated area following the instructions we give you. For three to four days, avoid alcohol and limit sun exposure. If you go outside, wear sunscreen.
When can I work out again?
Light movement helps your recovery, so walking is encouraged. Hold off on intense workouts for at least 48 hours.
