Smoothbeam is a laser treatment that targets the sebaceous glands in the skin. The sebaceous glands are oil-producing glands, and are often one of the root causes for acne. When these glands become blocked or irritated, they can cause acne breakouts. The blockage of these glands can also cause sebaceous hyperplasia.
The Smoothbeam treatment targets these glands, heating and soothing the blocked glands. This process can alter the oil-producing effects of the glands, resulting in fewer acne breakouts and a reduction in sebaceous hyperplasia symptoms. Plus, the Smoothbeam procedure also stimulates collagen production, which can help with acne scarring, wrinkles and lines, and related concerns.

What Can I Expect From the Smoothbeam Treatment?
Prior to the Smoothbeam treatment, we will apply a topical anesthetic to minimize discomfort. The Smoothbeam device has a cooling component that helps preserve the proper temperature and comfort of the skin. During treatment, the Smoothbeam device will be used to deliver laser energy to the skin. You may feel a stinging sensation during this process, but it is generally well-tolerated for the duration of the 20-minute treatment session.
What is the Smoothbeam Recovery Like?
There is minimal downtime or recovery period necessary after the Smoothbeam treatment. You may experience some redness in the treatment area, which can last a day or two after treatment. However, you will be able to return to all normal activities immediately following your appointment.
What Smoothbeam Results Can I Expect?
The results from Smoothbeam will develop gradually in the weeks following your treatment. Most patients need a series of treatment sessions to achieve optimal results. While we typically recommend one to three treatment sessions, we will help you determine the optimal number of treatments during your initial consultation.
