What are PRP Injections?
A PRP injection is simply blood with a concentration of platelets and other growth factors. To prepare the PRP, blood is taken from the patient and spun in a centrifuge which isolates the plasma enriched platelets.
After this process, the PRP is re-injected back into the area the patient is selecting to treat. The body will use the platelets and growth factors to heal and strengthen the treated areas. As a result, patients can address lines, wrinkles, scars, and more.

PRP injections use only blood from a patient’s own body, so there is no risk of infection or other side effects that are often associated with injectable treatments. Patients of all ages can benefit from PRP injections. During your consultation, we can help you determine if PRP injections is the best treatment option for you!
What is the PRP Injection Treatment Like?
The first step in a PRP injection treatment is collecting a small amount of blood. This blood will be placed in a machine called a centrifuge, which will separate the blood into platelet-rich plasma, or PRP.
Once the PRP is created, the PRP injection process can begin. For this step, we often use a topical anesthetic to minimize any discomfort that may occur. A series of injections will be placed into and around the desired treatment area. A typical PRP therapy treatment takes about one hour to perform.
Is There Any Downtime After PRP Injections?
After PRP injection, there is little to downtime required. Most patients can come in, receive PRP injections and return to their normal activities the same day. Patients may experience minor swelling or redness due to the injections, but the healing benefits of PRP ensure that these effects fade within just a few days of treatment.
When Will I See Results from My PRP Injections?
Your PRP injection results will become visible in the weeks and following your treatment, although you may notice an initial boost in skin volume thanks to the PRP injections. It takes time for the body to begin using the PRP to restore the body and stimulate growth in the treated areas, so most patients notice results about a month or two after treatment. These results will continue to improve with additional treatments and as collagen is produced and integrated into the skin.
