The exact cause of cellulite is unknown. Cellulite dimples are a result of tension in the fibrous bands that connect the skin to the muscle below. This causes the fat surrounding the bands to push against the surface of the skin, creating the “orange-peel” or “cottage cheese” textured appearance. How Do Cellulite Injections Work?
Cellulite injections target the fibrous bands that pull the skin downwards and create the dimpled appearance. The active ingredient in the injection serves two important functions to reduce the appearance of cellulite:
- Breaking Down Fibrous Bands: The treatment releases the tension in these bands, allowing the skin to smooth out.
- Stimulating Collagen Production: Cellulite injections can help in the production of collagen, further improving the skin’s texture and elasticity.
Cellulite Injections: What to Expect
Cellulite injections are performed at our medical spa, and treatment usually takes between 30 minutes to one hour.
Before your cellulite injections, you will attend a consultation with one of our certified aestheticians. Your provider will visually examine your problem areas, and you should alert them to any medical conditions you have as well as all medications and supplements you take.
If you and your provider agree that you could benefit from cellulite injections, you will recline comfortably while a series of injections are administered with a small needle. A typical treatment session involves roughly 10-12 injections.
No downtime is needed after cellulite injections. You may experience some temporary soreness, swelling, and/or bruising, but this will quickly resolve.

Yes. The majority of patients see a significant improvement in skin dimpling after receiving cellulite injections.

How many cellulite treatments will I need?
Typically, patients see noticeable results after 1-3 sessions. However, the exact number will depend on the severity of the cellulite and individual factors.
Are cellulite injections safe?
Research shows that cellulite injections are well-tolerated. The most common reactions occur at the injection site and may include bruising, tenderness, or nodules under the skin. The mild risks of cellulite injections do not increase when a patient requires additional treatments to meet their goals.
Are cellulite injections painful?
While some discomfort is common during the injection, most patients describe the sensation as a mild pinch. We also offer topical anesthetic options for those concerned about pain.
