Laser skin resurfacing is a cosmetic technique that uses laser energy to exfoliate damaged skin cells, revealing healthier, brighter skin. Additionally, laser energy stimulates collagen production in the skin to trigger long-lasting benefits like skin tightening. Laser skin resurfacing can be either fractional laser resurfacing, or CO2 fractional laser resurfacing.

What is the Laser Skin Resurfacing Treatment Like?
The eMatrix treatment and the Total FX treatment use radiofrequency energy and laser energy, respectively, to gently resurface the skin. During treatment, many patients feel a warm, prickly sensation as energy enters their skin. Topical anesthetic ointments are used to reduce unpleasant feelings during treatment. A typical laser skin resurfacing treatment takes about one hour.
What is Recovery Like After Laser Skin Resurfacing?
After laser skin resurfacing treatment, a pink or red “sunburn” appearance is common. After the redness has subsided, your skin will look brown and feel somewhat rough, like sandpaper. Then, it will begin to peel for a few days. During this period, you will need to take special care to protect the skin from the sun and other irritants. However, most normal activities can be resumed following your appointment.
What Results Can I Expect from Laser Skin Resurfacing?
Most laser skin resurfacing patients will require multiple treatment sessions to achieve their desired results. However, the exact number of treatments will vary. You will begin to notice results within a few weeks of your first treatment, once the skin begins to heal and collagen takes effect in the body.
