Facial veins and red spots removal with laser treatments.
Many people are troubled by unsightly facial spider veins, port wine stains and unwanted red spots [angiomas] that appear on the face and body. Also known as telangiestasias, spider veins can be caused by a variety of reasons including rosacea, oral contraceptives, hormones, sun exposure, the aging process or genetics. The angiomas are actually small blood vessela near the surface and usually hereditary.
Laser treatment is a clinically proven safe and effective means of removing facial veins, port wine stains and angiomas. The laser generates an intense beam of light that targets the hemoglobin within the blood vessels which causes the red appearance of the spider veins and spots. The energy from the laser is absorbed by the target blood vessels, but not the surrounding tissue. The laser generates heat and causes coagulation of the blood vessels. This process destroys the blood vessels and they are gradually reabsorbed by the body.
Laser treatment generally takes just a few minutes, and with minimal discomfort. The treatment time may vary slightly according to the number of vessels that require treatment. Effective treatment generally occurs with one session, although depending on the type of vessels (pink or red ones are easier to remove than darker or purple veins), multiple sessions may be necessary to achieve the best results. Port wine stains require a series of treatments depending on size, thickness and color.
The Cosmetic Center of New England uses four different types of laser treatments depending on ones individual needs. Please contact us for a free consultation to determine which treatment is right for you.
Aura: The Aura laser produces a 532nm wavelength beam of energy. This laser wavelength of light is very selective in treating the targeted blood vessels and minimizes damage to surrounding tissue.
V-Beam: This advanced pulsed dye laser device emits a short spray of a cooling agent called cryogen onto the skin before each laser pulse. This process minimizes the thermal effect on the outer layers of skin without affecting underlying targeted areas. This results in a greater comfort for patients during treatment.
Prolite (IPL): The Prolite System works by delivering a series of pulses of light to the skin. The flashes last for a split second, and one flash is delivered every two to four seconds. This light is engineered to cause the destruction of unsightly spider veins.
Gemini: This laser uses a dual wavelength technology that results in a reduction of facial redness, and flushing. The laser targets superficial veins (spider veins) collapsing them for absorbance into the body.
