Acne and Acne Scars

acne-treatmentAcne affects up to 80% of people in their teens, and up to 10% of adults. Most cases of acne fade without any lasting effects, but unfortunately acne scars and skin pitting remain with some people throughout their life. These acne scars can affect people in many ways. The most successful way to treat acne and acne scars is with a combination of medications, laser therapy and for the scarring…fractionated CO2 skin resurfacing.

Cosmetic Enhancement Center of New England uses several medication protocols including Obagi®, tretinoin, antibiotics or benzoyl peroxide products plus several different types of procedures to treat acne and the unwanted acne scarring. Frequently a combination of medication and treatments are used depending on the client’s individual needs. All treatments are carefully and thoughtfully customized to each person’s particular needs. Available Treatments:

Total Fx® CO2 fractionated skin resurfacing laser: The UltraPulse® is the most versatile CO2 laser system available. It is capable of offering the full range of fractional resurfacing. DeepFX® offers a small, deep microablative treatment for skin tightening. ActiveFX® offers a superficial microablative treatment for large pores and pigmentation.

DeepFX® and ActiveFX® can be combined to form TotalFX®, for total outcomes in the treatment of acne scars. Read more about UltraPulse® TotalFX® here.

Smoothbeam™ laser: Smoothbeam’s™ unique process uses a wavelength that heats the upper dermis stimulating the body’s natural healing response of collagen remodeling.

V-Beam® laser: V-Beam® is a pulsed dye laser to deliver an intense but gentle burst of light into selectively targeted areas of the skin. The light is absorbed by blood vessels or melanin pigmented areas in the dermis depending on the condition being treated, thus improving the skin tone, redness, and texture.

Parisian Peel™ : Parisian Peel™ is a gentle, non-invasive treatment. Parisian Peel™ medical microdermabrasion uses a directed stream of micro-crystals, combined with vacuum to gently remove the dead cell layer in order to unclog pores and remove debris from the surface of the skin. This is a powerful but gentle exfoliating procedure that refreshes and renews your skin.

Omnilux™ Blue/Red Light: Ominilux™ uses high-intensity, narrow-band blue or red light to treat acne. This light does not use ultraviolet (UV) light or laser energy but LED technology. It kills P. acnes, the acne-causing bacteria that forms within the sebaceous glands and cause breakouts.

Levulan® Kerastick®: Levulan® treatment combined with Red or Blue light is called Photodynamic Therapy.

(PDT): PDT is successful in the treatment of mild to severe acne. This treatment uses a photo-sensitizer (Levulan®), light (Red or Blue), and molecular oxygen to selectively kill cells associated with the bacteria responsible for creating acne.
